Stockton Pound/Cause for Paws

Our Story

It all began as a little fund raiser to benefit the Stockton Dog Pound in October 2007. The event was so successful that a small group offered to help care for the pound and in November of 2007 they began to manage, maintain and care for the Stockton Pound. The pound was a kill facility with a high kill rate, but the volunterrs refused to accept that idea. From that decision, Cause for Paws was formed and no dogs have been euthanized since. Many times we have to foster dogs at various homes and with the help of donations, all dogs are spayed/ neutered. The dogs we adopt are healthy, socialized and lovingly cared for by our volunteers. Under the umbrella of Cause for Paws the pound has become a NO KILL FACILITY.

The city of Stockton has given Cause for Paws permission to begin fund raising for a new pound with an indoor facility which will provide room to house more dogs with temperature control, spacious runs, a medical area, an excercise area, and a central place to view dogs for adoption. Dontations are needed and appreciated.

Our Adoption Process
We require a $50 adoption fee. Most pets are up to speed on health care and/or spayed or neutered before adoption (or a voucher is given). We do require that they be spayed or neutered. All funds go back into animal care and maintainence.

Cause for Paws is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (donations are tax deductable) headquartered near Stockton Missouri which is north of Springfield Missouri. We serve all of Cedar County Missouri and are adopting pets to people located in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and parts of the midwest. Our goal at Stockton Cause for Paws is to find homes for abandoned and unwanted dogs from the Stockton Pound and to assist those outside the city to find their forever homes too. We work to promote and educate all dog owners about the importance of spay/neutering of pets.
